The Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet hired Apex Events to facilitate their 40th Anniversary Ruby Gala in 2013. We immediately saw an opportunity to increase brand recognition for the company and their annual Nutcracker performance. We created a marketing campaign called “How do you Tutu?” We partnered with a notable local photographer – Neil Johnson - to photograph community leaders in unique photos wearing a tutu: Brady Blade, world renowned drummer; Brandon Oldenburg, Academy Award Winner for animation and co-owner of Moonbot Studios; Kermit Poling, Symphony composer and GM for Red River Radio; Andy Shehee, Vice-President and Chairman of Kilpatrick Life Insurance Company; and Henry Price, Caddo Schools Art Supervisor and President of the Board of Shreveport Regional Arts Council. In addition, we partnered with a new ABA Basketball team in our community, Shreveport-Bossier Mavericks, to make specialty appearances in tutus. Shreveport City Councilmen, Sam Jenkins and Jeff Everson, showed their support in an article for Forum News. The result was more than we could have imagined. Not only was their first ever Gala successful, the Nutcracker performances saw record ticket sales increasing revenue more than 25%.
“Apex Events conceived and executed a unique creative vision for our 40th Anniversary Gala that has had an impact far beyond the event itself. Our ballet company will reap the benefits of this increased visibility and creative energy for many years to come.” Kate Pedrotty, Executive Director, Shreveport Metropolitan Ballet
